Just Wanted to Let You Know...

Brushing - Harder than it Looks

When we first started brushing Henderson's teeth, he thought it was funny. Not so funny anymore. I have to hold him down and pry his mouth open.
(I also couldn't get any pictures this morning without the "flash face")

10 Months

Henderson turned 10 months old 5 days ago. I say this each month, but I truly can't believe it. We are already discussing what we are going to do for his first birthday. It is so bittersweet!
There isn't too much news to report. He is still crawling around like crazy. He has gotten 2 new teeth up on top and there is another one coming in up there which makes 5 total teeth.
He has the BEST little personality and we love watching him experience new things. We are really looking forward to a fun summer!

My First Mother's Day

What a great weekend! It started on Friday when I met Mom and Jenna in Atlanta for a quick girls get together. We shopped on Friday, spent the night, and went to the Princess Diana exhibit (at the Civic Center) on Saturday. It was a very quick trip, but it was wonderful getting to spend some alone time with my mom and sister!

When I got home on Saturday, I could immediately tell that Henderson wasn't feeling well. I wont get into all the details but he was running a fever, super clingy, and all he wanted was for me to rock him. On Sunday, I sent Stephen on to church (the early service) and I planned on meeting him for Sunday school and let Honey take Henderson to her house for his nap. I couldn't even get dressed because all Henderson would do was cry when I put him down. It was pitiful. So I spent my Mother's Day, well, being a mommy. I rocked and rocked and sang and hugged. It was wonderful (despite the fact that my sweet boy was sick)! We did make it over to Honey's house for lunch and got to visit with Aunt Carol and Grandmother. I took Henderson to the doctor on Monday since he still had a fever, but it wasn't anything treatable (some sort of viral thing). I am happy to report that he is MUCH better now and back to his old self!

Grandmother has lots of experience with sick babies!
Honey helping Henderson get comfortable. Poor Baby!

On Monday, he was trying to perk up!

Oooh, but then how quickly he gets upset again.

Even Hendrix felt sorry for Henderson. He jumped in to try and help him feel better.
(Wouldn't you know, I didn't get a single picture with my child on my first Mother's Day!)

Blueberries

Remember back in June when I posted about picking blueberries out at Uncle Buddy and Aunt Sharon's farm? Well...

LOOK WHO IS LOVIN' THEM NOW!!!

Henderson absolutely loves Uncle Buddy's blueberries. We have been able to enjoy them since last June because we picked and froze so many. At that time, I was super pregnant and I guess I never could have imagined that my sweet little baby would be eating those exact berries! The time goes WAY TOO FAST! I am excited that Henderson will be there with us this year when we go and pick 'em again. Thanks Aunt Sharon and Uncle Buddy for providing us with one of Henderson's favorite foods!

Just a few Pictures

We got Henderson a little kiddie pool for our backyard. The water was just a little too cold last week to let him get in, so I used it as a kinda outdoor playpen.
"What Mom? Can't you see I'm on the phone?"
So I gave in and we put some water in the pool. He splashed and splashed until he was totally soaked! He really loves the water.

Nannie was a big help this past week. Henderson was so happy she was here. He has given me many "but Nannie lets me do it" looks since she went home.

Daddy and Henderson at the church picnic today. It was 90 plus degrees and so humid that we couldn't stay long. Hello, Valdosta heat! Oh how I haven't missed you. At all. Not even a little.

He Totally Redeems Himself!

Today at church the United Methodist Women honored all of the babies born in the church in 2009. If you remember back, oh say to Henderson's baptism, we don't have the best track record with our baby in church. In case you somehow managed to miss that post back in December, let me refresh...baby. screaming. screaming. screaming.

I started having flashbacks as Stephen and I went into the church. It was PACKED. Today was children's Sunday which includes a number of singing performances, hand bells, etc. Soooo, every parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, and cousin was in the congregation.

A few weeks ago, a lady in our church called to tell us about this whole thing. She assured me that the babies would be honored "first thing" in the service, so imagine my surprise when we were still sitting in the pew at 11:38! Thank goodness our baby is really into lights right now because our church is packed with about 10 huge chandeliers that had him mesmerized. (He just really wanted someone to turn them on and off...thanks Nannie!)

All of the 2009 babies were so sweet and none shed a tear. Is it bad that I secretly hoped that one of them would have a humongous melt-down, so my child wasn't the one known as the "baby who screamed the entire church service?" Oh well, at least he had this 2nd chance and came through like a CHAMP! In honor of his big accomplishment, Stephen and I let him try his first bites of ice cream. He, of course, LOVED it!
