Then There Were Four

Today would have been my scheduled c-section date if David had not decided to come a little early!

God truly had a plan for his birth and let all of the pieces fall into place last weekend. I had been feeling kinda bad since Thursday of that week, but certainly didn't think I could be going into labor. On Saturday, I started having contractions, but I thought eventually they would go away (which has happened in the past). On Saturday night they kept coming with more frequency. I watched the clock all night and by Sunday morning, I knew that this was probably it (I was induced with Henderson so I wasn't exactly sure when to go to the hospital!!). I woke Stephen up at 6 am and told him I was going to take a shower and to start getting ready. He called his mom to come over and sit with Henderson. We went to the hospital with the thought that they would probably send us home. I knew my doctor was on call, so that was comforting. When we got there, my sweet labor and delivery nurse during Henderson's birth, Christine was also working!! She is an angel from heaven!

Anyway, turns out I was 4 cm dilated and in full labor. My doctor said we could go ahead with the c-section. So from there it all went really fast! Christine was great about telling me what was going to happen. All was very calm and everyone was so nice. The surgery went great and God gave me this wonderful calm about it all. At 10:10 am, my sweet baby David was born! It was a completely different experience this time. I will say that c-section births and vaginal deliveries are very different (as you could imagine). We had a good hospital stay with great nurses taking care of us. My mom and dad made it to Valdosta a few hours after the baby arrived and Henderson was in heaven having them here to take care of him. I have been recovering nicely and really feel pretty good a week out. The very worst part of having a c-section is not being able to lift Henderson. I want to pick up and squeeze my little boy sooooo bad. He doesn't understand it so my heart breaks when he cries for me to pick him up! I'll have to post more on his reaction to the baby later, but the first day home from the hospital was hard. He has been very sweet to the baby, but does get jealous when mommy and daddy hold him. He has gotten better everyday and I know it will be fine.

David is really the sweetest little baby. He is a champion at nursing and was so right from the start. (If you haven't looked at my dad's pictures then check them out! You will see where he sucked on his wrists in the womb! I think this really prepared him to nurse well).

Thank you to everyone for the calls, gifts, texts, etc. We are doing really good. I certainly couldn't do anything without my wonderful family who have helped out tremendously. I still have many weeks where I can't lift things (or drive) so I don't know what I would have or would do without their help.

I hope I can blog some more soon. I have some cute pictures of the cousins with David that I would like to post. (Henderson still refuses to hold the baby!! Hopefully he will come around soon, so I can get some pictures of my two boys together. I just don't want to push it.
