I had a pretty busy weekend around here. Our "class" in the Jr. Service League held "A Full House for the Haven" on Saturday. Each new member class is required to do a project their first year. I am in a class of some pretty exceptional ladies who were ready for a big challenge. It was decided that we would host a Casino Night to benefit the Haven. The Haven is a local organization that helps women and children who are victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. The old facility here in Valdosta burned and was quite inadequate to hold the large number of families that they serve. They are working to build a bigger facility. I am honored to say that we raised over 20,000 dollars (don't have final total yet) that we will get to donate to this worthy organization. I truly can't take any credit for all the hard work that went on. There were some ladies who did so much and I am so happy for the turnout and success! I really can be a little less than enthusiastic about doing service things, but it really is such a great feeling to know that this money will be donated to benefit those who truly need it!
All of that being said, I want to thank anyone who bought a ticket and came to the event. I also can't believe how generous local businesses were with their donations. I want to thank my mom too for coming over and keeping Henderson!!!
Stay tuned for a baby update... appointment on Thursday.
